Imperialism and Eurocentrism
Imperialism is an association between peoples that intentionally benefits one people over another. Laying claim to territories inhabited by Indigenous or non-indigenous peoples, seizing land and resources through conflict and warfare, and then imposing political control often accomplish this. The peaceful definition for imperialism is “the belief in the desirability of the acquisition of colonies and dependencies or extension of a countries influence through trade, diplomacy, ect.”
Eurocentrism is a belief that the European worldview is superior to others. This is also called European imperialism. The difference between the two is that Imperialism and Eurocentrism is that Imperialism benefits people to one and another. Eurocentrism finds that Europe is more superior to the rest of the countries in the world.
Europeans were very competitive with one another during the 17th and 18th centuries. Each nationality wanted to be bigger and better then the others that were against them or an ally with another. Any way each nation was very competitive. They believed that to gain prestige, a country needed to be both very wealthy and extremely powerful. And to gain their prestige, a country has to have colonies. The more territory that they controlled or able to control, the more powerful and important they thought they could become.
During the 1800s a global economy began to develop. The activities of European capitalists spread far and wide. They sought out the raw and natural materials to feed their factories and other companies. The entrepreneurs in Europe did well, and so did the managers as well. The objectives of the Europeans were Eurocentric-each country focused on gaining power, advantages and benefits over another European Country, at the expense of Indigenous peoples in the lands they controlled.
In the late 19th century various nations entered a phase of territorial expansion often called the Second great era imperialism. Britain and other European countries and united states were very territorial and wanted to impact their religious values and other values that they had to other countries.
This imperialism coincided with growing concern in Canada about its relation ship to the British Empire. The responsibility for External Relations was under Britain, and Britain funded Canada and other public domains. But still these countries were so loyal to the British Empire but a fear that lead to total absorption haunted them from Britain.
Though Canada is one of the very few countries that was under imperialism from the British Empire, though we are now a very independent country we still ne lot’s of support and needs from Britain, even when they have no control over our country anymore. This is almost the type of imperialism that our culture, it self, is similar to Britain’s culture. We are also imperialized by the culture, support, and needs from the United States of America. We share their culture and almost everything with them as well.
Overall, imperialism has a good impact on Canada-from the time when Canada was under the rule of Britain where all the taxes and fur trades went back in the day and until now when we are free and very strong we still need the support that comes from the other countries that are very imperialized.

Silk Road
The Silk Road has a great impact on medieval Europe. The Silk Road is an ancient trade route between China and the Mediterranean, 4,000 miles between each other; followed by Marco Polo in the 13th century to reach Cathay. China trades with West Europe past the Mediterranean. This made life easier for the different people from both sides of the Mediterranean.
The first change that Silk Road brought was to enable people to transport trade goods to other cultures and countries. They usually sell spices and natural resources type of things, and clothes. Trade on the Silk Road was a significant factor in the development of the great Civilizations. And in several respects helped lay the foundations for the modern world. The Silk Road also divides into the northern and southern routes bypassing the Taklimakan Desert.
Another change that occurred by the Silk Road was that it started to trade with countries that only could be reached by the sea. The sea routes were around southern Asia to reach to countries like the Philippians, Japan and others.
A negative change that happened because of the Silk Road was Social Consequences. The social consequences effected china and Europe in a negative way through people who need different kinds of things.

Sudan
On the year of 1881 Britain colonized and ruled Sudan. But as soon 1889 came around Britain made an agreement to own Sudan with Egypt. In 1920’s, they created a “closed door policy to separate the peoples and cultures of north and south Sudan from one another. In the Northern part of Sudan was populated primarily to people of Arab descent. Southern part was home primarily to Africans.
Sudan gains independence from Britain and Egypt, in 1956. The former colonial rulers agreed to abandon the closed-door policy that had separated the north and the south. North and the south of Sudan were reunited, and power was handed over to the Arabs in the north. Arabs made it believable that Sudan was an Arab country. They began to impose Islamic culture and religion and the Arab way of life, so the Africans didn’t have a choice to impose their culture.
The continued British occupation of Sudan fueled an increasingly strident nationalist backlash in Egypt, with Egyptian nationalist leaders determined to force Britain to recognize a single independent union of Egypt Sudan. With the formal end of Ottoman rule in 1914, Husayn Kamil was declared a Sultan of Egypt and Sudan, as was his brother Fuad who succeeded him. After years the Sultan of Egypt and Sudan became just Sultan for Egypt. Sudan became it’s own country on January 1, 1956.

Potlatch
Potlatch is a ceremonial feast held by some Indians of the northwestern coast of North America (as in celebrating a marriage or new accession) in which the host gives gifts to tribesmen an others to display his superior wealth (sometimes, Formerly, to his own impoverishment.)
During the event, different events take place. Like either singing or dancing, sometimes with masks or props of any kind, it makes the Potlatch more entertaining. It is kind of similar to parties and the potlucks we have now. Except the host gives the presents at potlatches instead of the guest. The guest gives the presents at the parties.
The reason why potlatches are similar to modern societies entertainment is that they have the gathering like a potluck. Everybody from around gather around enjoys the food the chat between one another and watch good entertainment. But today’s society we are kind of different. The guests bring the presents for the host instead of the host giving presents to the guests.
Within it, hierarchical relations within and between clans, villages, and nations, are observed and reinforced through the distribution or sometimes destruction of wealth, dance performances, and other ceremonies. The status of any given family is raised not by who has the most resources, but by who distributes the most resources.

Residential Schools
Residential Schools are Boarding Schools for acculturation and assimilation of Aboriginal students, run by religious groups or government from the 1830’s to the 1950’s. These schools are trying to change the culture of aboriginal students to make them follow the culture and religion of the white people.
These schools made the aboriginal students to stay away from their parents for long periods of a time. The reason being is that the government didn’t want the aboriginal children to follow the traditions and the history of their people. The Europe owned Canada during this time so they wanted their ways to be expressed through the world.
In 1884, the Indian ct was amended to make attendance in Indian Schools Compulsory for status Indians under the age 16 until they reached 18 years of age. This Legislation created a system of Government-funded, church-run residential schools. The schools were located in every province, including Alberta, but not Newfoundland Labrador, or New Brunswick, or P.E.I.
In these Schools they had social Consequences. Some believe that many of the social problems that communities of the Aboriginal face today are problems and consequences. Directly or indirectly the residential schools under laid the social environments of the Aboriginal people. They had a physical and emotional abuse in these schools, which caused hardships and sadness.
The schools, I think were hell to the Aboriginal people, because they didn’t get to lead their lives in their own way. They didn’t get to experience their culture and how to follow the traditions from what their ancestors after ancestors did.

Oil and gas companies took over lands of the Lubicon people to get money and everything they need to get richer. From all of this, the lands of the Lubicon people have been tortured by these oil companies which the Lubicon people have no say of how to stop this problem. The oil companies have been cutting down acre after acre and taking down the moose population. The Lubicon people asked the government if they could reserve this land so they can keep their tradition and culture. The Government said no. Later they made an agreement but then the Government withdrew from it before it was finalized.
It think in the future they will make an agreement that won’t have a government that won’t withdraw from the agreement. I think it would be much more simpler if they actually cared for these people. I think they should give rights and be more caring to their culture.

Marginalization Issues Part 1
When people are left out of politics, social activities, and economics and other preparations. This Marginalization people, who are left out in these kind of cases. The indigenous Australians of Cape York Peninsula in Australia are Marginalized people.
The indigenous Australians had a strong culture, language, and long historical experience. Though the have a good culture the struggle threw many challenges. They go threw Poverty, disease, dependence on social assistance, and life expectancy of only fifty years.
In 1999, the government issued an official statement of regret for mistreatment of Indigenous Australians. This was called the National Sorry Days. This held on each year on May 26th since 1998. This kind of situation is happening because the government is regretting what they did to them before this situation, but not an apology. This Day is a Journey of Healing. This day should be apologizing instead of acting like they are regretting of how they are treated.

Bank Crisis
The Bank Crisis is periods of time were the banks couldn’t afford to make loans for their consumers. Or they can’t afford to keep any mortgages or can’t afford any consumer to stay at the bank. One thing that can cause this is recession. Another problem can cause this is that people spend more money on things that they can’t afford. The finale problem I am going to talk about in this essay is the house booms and crashes.
The Recession causes a bunch of problems from losing jobs to the bank problems. The Recession makes banks go under by losing money. Banks lose money because people get greedy and they want to borrow more money from the bank from what they can afford. They continue this cycle and then the bank crashes and this is from people wanting and the bank letting.
People spending more money then what they can afford is one of the problems in the banking crisis. People want a bigger house then what they can afford so they go to the bank to ask for more of a loan or down payment. This is foolish because when they have to pay back the mortgage they can’t afford to pay it back. This is a big reason why the bank is going through a financial crisis is because they are lending more to people from what they can afford.
Another problem that caused the bank crisis is the house crashes. The reason why house gave problems to the banks is that when they let out more money to someone who can’t afford. People get Houses that cause them to get kicked out of their homes when they can’t afford them; the bank gets the house. Then they try to sale them but so many houses go under so they can’t make any money off the house. This is a big part of the financial crisis.
The bank crisis gets more foolish over the years. People ask more money from the bank that they can’t afford to pay back. This causes people to lose their homes and to lose what they own. So the banks try to sale them but they can’t because all of the houses went down under. This is a big reason why there is a recession. This is the reason why we have a banking crisis.
